Bike and Build

Bike & Build is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which organizes cross-country cycling trips to benefit the affordable housing cause in the United States. Participants on Bike & Build trips are of ages 18–25, and may or may not have previous cycling or volunteer experience. Rides have up to 34 participants (including 4 designated leaders), and take 8–11 weeks to travel across the United States. Bike and Build riders spend 8–10 days en route building houses.(wikipedia)

Our church( St Paul’s Poughkeepsie NY) hosted a meal for these (31) young people some if not all are college grads- the two who I had the privilege to get to know 1) Neil a Harvard grad 2) Rachel as MS grad who will in the fall go on for PhD.

They were bright, enthuiastic and engaging kids with no loss for chatter and manners.  These bikers were from all over the country raising money through there efforts.  It was truly enjoyable and though hesitant to attend I am delighted that I had the opportunity to meet such wonderful people.  One of the health clubs in the area Allsport provided showering facilities for them and they slept in the church.  There next stop is Roscoe NY.
